Dr Daniel Machell BDS

Dr. Daniel Machell is the principal dentist of the Acland Street Dental Group. Graduating in 1997 from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Dan completed his general professional training and came travelling to Australia in 1999. He soon fell in love with the country and other than two years back in the U.K working with children and special needs patients in the Community Dental Service, has been practicing “Down Under” ever since. This has seen him working in the Government System for a time in Queensland, including itinerant work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service serving Indigenous communities and time spent working in the Torres Strait. He moved into private practice in 2004. Dan joined Acland Street in 2006 and bought the practice from Tony in 2008, expanding the surgery in 2010.

Dan is a member of the Australian Dental Association and regularly attends continuing education courses both in Melbourne and interstate.

Outside of dentistry, Dan’s main interests are sport, music and travel. He’s a keen soccer player (5-a-side these days) and closely follows the Storm and the Cats (sorry Saints fans).

Dr Ben Scott BDS

Ben graduated from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in the UK in 2000 and joined the team in late 2015. He is highly experienced at using inhalational and intravenous sedation techniques and gained a Diploma in Conscious Sedation in Dentistry from the University of Newcastle (UK). Ben’s aim is to continue providing good quality family dentistry in a relaxed and calm environment. Ben also works at Melbourne University in a teaching capacity guiding dental students through their early clinical years.
Outside of dentistry Ben particularly enjoys travel and is lucky enough to have visited many parts of the world including South America, Europe, the Himalayas, South East Asia, India, the Middle East and Africa. He is also proud to have carried out volunteer dental work in Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. His other interests include photography, the arts, swimming, reading, trekking, property renovation and skiing.

Naser attends the practice as a visiting specialist in Oral Surgery and will undertake wisdom tooth removal for patients who would prefer not to be outsourced for this often tricky procedure, at less expense than a referral to another specialist. He also performs the surgical placement of implants for our practice patients.
